Ryuji Masuda (増田 龍治) is the director, writer and creator of Popee the Performer. Although Popee was his first work, he still posts art of it and answers questions on his X account from time to time.
Ryuji was born in 1968 in Kumamoto, Japan. He graduated from the Osaka University of Arts, and is a special lecturer at the Kyoto University of Art and Design.[1]
He was married to Wakako Masuda, who illustrated the Popee the Performer manga and appears to have drawn most art that appears on his X account. His ex-wife also designed the characters and finalized the storyboards. They have two sons together, and they divorced in 2019.
