Funny Pets (ファニーペッツ (Fanīpettsu)) is a 3DCG anime created and directed by Ryuji Masuda that aired throughout 2006.[1] Each episode averages about 7 minutes in length, and there are 24 episodes in all. The series can be found on YouTube[1] or Nico Nico Douga.[1]

Summary[]

Two aliens; the crescent-headed Crescent, and the sun-headed Corona, crash on earth. They're taken in by the air-headed showgirl girl Funny, who makes them her pets.

  • This is Atsushi Ishino's second role in any of Masuda's work. His first role in any of Masuda's works was Tomoya Endo in Onsen Tamago.
  • Haruka Igawa, Funny's voice actress, was an idol and former gravure model. She was also in the movie "Death Water" around the same year.
  • Michiko Furutani, Corona's voice actress, is an author and illustrator.
  • Funny made her first appearance in the Popee the Performer Manga.
  • This is the second show to have a picture book, just one month after Mr. Stain on Junk Alley. The picture book also has a cameo from Mr. Stain at the end.
  • This is the second piece of Japanese media to have Meyna Co. (Music composer), Shunsuke Koga (series producer) and Atsushi Ishino. The first is the 2003 movie A Day on the Planet.
  • This is the second time Meyna Co. composed music for any of Masuda's works.
  • There was going to be a saturn-headed character named Kyu-chan. But it was scrapped due to the character being suicidal.
