Eepop (鏡ポピー lit. Mirror Popee) is a character who appeared in episode 33, 「MIRROR」, Eepop is a mirror version of Popee, essentially Popee's opposite.
Appearance
Similarly to Popee, Eepop is a human who wears a cat suit and a bunny hat. Their outfit's colors are swapped to resemble that of Kedamono's.
Personality
Eepop, though resembling Popee, is his mirror/opposite. They seem to be more similar to Kedamono in personality, falling victim to Onomadek's outbursts, though Eepop is somewhat more meek and fearful of Onomadek than Kedamono is of Popee.
Eepop seems to need Onomadek for the same reason as Popee needs Kedamono: they are simply too lonely to go on without them. They are afraid to truly know their own self and instead must fill their existence with another person (or wolf), even though Onomadek has a tendency to antagonize them.
Eepop does not appear to fear Popee and showed enough trust in him during episode 33 to take his hand, though they are initially shocked by his presence and stands shakily while Popee challenges Onomadek.
Trivia
- While the Western fandom generally refers to them as Eepop (Popee backwards), the Japanese fandom refers to them as "鏡ポピー" which just means "Mirror (kagami) Popee"
- Ryuji Masuda, creator of Popee the Performer, has stated in a tweet (using Google Translate) that Mirror counterparts may be female. While this is a highly debated point in the community, we now know that Eepop is the same gender as Popee—a gender only the two of them know.[1]
- To Eepop, Popee is an embarrassment and, to them, Popee is the "mirror" version.[2]
- Eepop is a "hidden" side of Popee, which he finds embarrassing to have exposed.[3]
- Eepop and Popee both have insecurities regarding loneliness, and neither have any good experiences with love.[4]
- Eepop has a manipulative streak that stems from their dependence. Where Popee is careless and exerts a physically violent method of control over others, Eepop instead tries to subtly get under people's skin in order to prevent abandonment. [5]
- Like Popee, Eepop has their own logo.[6]
