「GHOST」is the 23rd episode out of 39 total, and the 10th episode of season 2.

Characters[]

Summary[]

Kedamono is haunted by Popee's ghost after accidentally killing him by stabbing him with a sword.

Plot[]

The episode opens with the image of a skull-handled sword, and Popee, Kedamono, and Papi doing rock paper scissors over it. Papi and Kedamono draw paper, while Popee, unfortunately, draws rock. Kedamono looks relieved while Popee shakes his head and Papi nods.

The next scene has Popee in a barrel. Kedamono looks on, worried, as Papi approaches the barrel with the sword. To the surprise of Popee and Kedamono, Papi quickly thrusts the first sword in, and then quickly adds more and more. He finishes his stunt by using his last sword to slice into Popee's head.

The red curtain appears while the fanfare plays, and the curtains open to reveal Popee sitting on the barrel, entirely alive and unharmed.

Kedamono applauds them then jumps back as a sword is thrown his way. He looks over to see Popee back in the barrel, and Papi and and Popee both encouraging him to give it a try.

Kedamono uncertainly takes the sword and closes his eyes, blindly spearing through the barrel. A squelch is heard as the sword impales Popee, and Kedamono opens his eyes with the shocking realization of what he's just done.

Kedamono's hands tremble and he looks up at Popee, whose head goes slack in the barrel. He's horrified with tears in his eyes—when he turns around, behind him, Papi has already begun to dig a grave. Papi sees Kedamono looking at him and offers him a shovel.

The next scene shows a blood moon, which zooms out to Popee's poorly dug grave (and poorly buried body).

Kedamono looks at the grave and shakes his head solemnly. Then he pulls out a leg of fried chicken and the TV clicks on, immediately displaying the UFO Girls. Kedamono bursts out laughing, having completely forgotten about the day's earlier incident.

Wind blows, and Popee's grave marker falls over. Kedamono looks over and watches the barrel Popee had died in fly open and closed in the wind. Kedamono looks uneasy, and as he's looking away from the TV, static appears, then a brief image of Popee before switching back to the UFO Girls.

Kedamono watches the TV as the program changes again, the picture flicking between static and, to his horror, Popee, before it returns to his program...and then back to Popee. It flickers back and forth, showing Popee with blood dripping from his mouth, and a close-up of Popee's bloodshot eyes.

As Kedamono's freaking out, Popee's ghost appears next to him. Kedamono notices, and Popee looks at him before smiling and letting his unnaturally long tongue hang out.

Popee is shown dragging Kedamono away with the sword in his hands as Kedamono shakes his head in fright. Papi peeks from around the corner in horror.

Popee throws Kedamono into the barrel and slams the door shut. Once Kedamono's inside, Popee prepares to get his revenge—but then he appears to be in pain.

Popee's apparition wavers as Papi gives Popee's body CPR. He continues to resucitate him until the apparition disappears, and Popee wakes up.

Unfortunately for everyone, just because he's alive again doesn't mean Popee doesn't still want to get even. He chases Kedamono and Papi with a sword until he corners them. Blood is running down his chin as he laughs.

Papi thinks, then gets an idea—and proceeds to snap Kedamono's neck. Popee looks upset as Papi then proceeds to snap his OWN neck, and drops to the ground, dead.

Almost immediately, spirits rise from Papi and Kedamono's bodies, with their necks still turned all the way back unnaturally. They look at him and then hang their ghostly tongues out, tormenting him.

Papi and Kedamono lay on recliners and watch the UFO Girls with their backwards heads as Popee swings the swords through their ghostly bodies, unable to actually do any harm. Popee runs around with the sword in frustration as the ghosts continue to laugh.
